Iron Deficiency Anemia Treatment in Edison, NJ
Why Colon Cancer Deserves Expert Attention
Iron deficiency anemia can cause fatigue, weakness, shortness of breath, dizziness, reduced exercise tolerance, and a substantial decline in day-to-day quality of life. Just as importantly, iron deficiency is often a sign that something deeper requires attention.
In many patients, proper care involves not only replacing iron, but also carefully identifying the underlying cause — whether from gastrointestinal blood loss, heavy menstrual bleeding, malabsorption, dietary factors, prior surgery, or other medical conditions.
Timely evaluation by a hematologist helps ensure that the root cause is identified and that treatment is both effective and appropriately targeted.

TREATMENT PHILOSOPHY
Dr. Kumar's Approach
Dr. Kumar provides personalized evaluation and treatment for iron deficiency anemia in Edison, New Jersey through Regional Cancer Care Associates. His approach focuses on understanding why iron deficiency has developed and then building a treatment plan specific to the individual patient.
In some patients, oral iron is not enough. Conditions such as GERD, IBS, Crohn’s disease, and other gastrointestinal disorders, as well as the effects of aging, may reduce how well iron is absorbed through the GI tract. In these situations, IV iron therapy can be especially beneficial, allowing iron to be replaced more effectively and often more quickly than with oral supplementation alone.
Dr. Kumar emphasizes both symptom improvement and a careful medical workup, while coordinating with gastroenterology, primary care, gynecology, and other specialists when appropriate.
Because anemia can affect older adults in especially significant ways — including fatigue, frailty, and reduced independence — Dr. Kumar also brings additional fellowship training in geriatrics, with particular attention to restoring strength, function, and quality of life.
